The Bible – Douay Rheims Version: translated from the Latin vulgate this is the traditional version of the Bible approved by the Catholic Church. It is not altered or abridged as the King James and other Protestant versions are. This version contains everything approved by the council’s of the Catholic Church in the late 300s and early 400s, and contains all the books of the original Bible, not just what is left after Luther, Calvin, King Henry VIII, Wycliffe, and other ex-Catholics left in after throwing out what they disagreed with.

Imitation Of Christ – Thomas A. Kempis: this book is second to the Bible in Christian popularity. It has changed my life personally as well. Since being written in the 1500s this book has remained the top selling book of Catholics and Protestants, being referenced by some of the greatest of Saints in their writings, and is perfect for daily meditation a chapter at a time.

Spiritual Combat – Lorenzo Scupoli: this book, also extremely ideal and practical for daily meditation was carried around by St. Francis de Sales for 18 years. It’s chapters deal with solutions to combat the worst of enemies, ourselves and the devil, in very achievable and diverse ways.

The Glories of Mary – St. Alphonsus de Liguroi: Beautifully written, extremely detailed, and research backed. This book contains chapter after chapter of reasons to devote ourselves to Our Blessed Mother everyday, as well examples to take into account, and beautifully written prayers to venerate Mary with. This book is a clear and concise way to illustrate that the Blessed Virgin does care for all of us as we are truly her Children just as Jesus was, that all graces from God come to us through her just as Jesus did, and that her Immaculate Heart is truly a refuge for all sinners who turn to her and wish for her to ask pardon from Our Lord; no matter how far into sin we have gone, as He refuses us nothing that she petitions for.

The Life of Christ – Bishop Fulton J. Sheen: Scriptually and Chronologically based. Everyone should know the life of their Lord and Savior in detail. This book paints in amazing detail, the miracles, as well the attitudes and ways of thinking of not just our Lord, but His Apostles, the Pharisees, the Romans, and everyone in between. It helps to connect the Old Testament prophecies with the New Testament and puts you right in the times as if you are there watching every detail of the life of Christ.
